It’s actually an air quality meter that shows the level of particles being emitted from the machine, super helpful for checking if your ventilation is doing its job.
With my setup (a 6” inline fan venting outside), the readings usually stay low around 40 ppm max. But when I cut MDF, the numbers spike fast… that material releases some pretty nasty stuff.
Definitely a good reminder to keep your exhaust system strong and filters clean!
I actually had the same one when I first got the XRF.
The numbers on the front display of the OneLaser XRF are readings from the built-in PM2.5 air quality detector. It measures the concentration of fine particulate matter in the air around the machine, especially while engraving. Basically, it gives you a live snapshot of the air quality in the room.
So if you’re running a job and the number climbs, it’s likely detecting smoke or fine particles escaping the exhaust or filtration system. It’s a handy way to keep tabs on ventilation efficiency.
Sounds like you’ve already submitted a ticket for the display issue (smart move), but once it’s fixed, it’s a super useful feature—especially if you’re working in a closed space.
