Has anyone made or use a wasteboard grid? Or what tips or tricks do you use to line things before engraving? I have the xrf.

To help you get the best results and work more efficiently, here are a few tips:

  • Use LightBurn’s Create Grid Array Tool: This feature can significantly speed up your workflow for repetitive designs.

  • Adjust Power and Speed: When cutting, try using slightly lower power and a faster speed. The goal is to cut all the way through the material without causing excessive charring.

  • Prioritize Inner Cuts: Always plan your cutting path to cut inner shapes first, then the outer frame. This prevents the material from shifting after the main shape is cut, which can ruin your entire design.

  • Test on Scrap Material: Before cutting your final piece, test your settings on a small scrap of cardboard. This helps you find the perfect speed and power combination.

I just use the laser itself for alignment, sending it to the lower right, lower left, and so on until everything lines up. I also marked the center point on my honeycomb and used a tape measure to position items at that mark before starting.
