How to Create Stunning Acrylic Night Lights

Ever wanted to make something beautiful and functional with your laser cutter? Let me tell you laser cut acrylic night lights are one of the most rewarding projects I’ve ever tried. They’re easy to make, look amazing when lit up, and people love them as gifts or Etsy-style products.

I recently made one using my OneLaser XRF, and it turned out better than I imagined. :fire:
Whether you’re doing this for fun, décor, or a little side hustle, here’s how to get started:

What You’ll Need:

Materials:

Tools:

I use the XRF, and it’s perfect for this kind of detail work!

Step-by-Step Guide:

1. Clean Your Acrylic

Wipe it down with a microfiber cloth to remove static, dust, and oils. Trust me—this helps avoid hazy engraving or weird burns.

2. Design in LightBurn

Pick your favorite design! I’ve done:

My LightBurn Settings (for 3mm acrylic):

  • Engrave: 60% power, 600 mm/s
  • Cut: 90% power, 6 mm/s
Always test your settings on a scrap first!

3. Auto-Focus & Frame Your Job

Use the OneLaser XRF touchscreen to auto-focus, then hit “frame” in LightBurn to check placement.

This step saved me from misaligned cuts more than once

4. Engrave First, Then Cut

Start with engraving so the design stays sharp.
Then cut the outline (include a slot tab if your base needs it).

:soap: Tip: Gently peel off any leftover protective film after cutting!

5. Assemble & Light It Up!

Slide the finished acrylic piece into your USB LED base.
If it doesn’t fit, lightly sand the bottom tab.

Plug it in… and boom! You’ve got a stunning, glowing night light!

Let me know if you’ve tried this or want help with settings/design ideas! Drop pics too, I’d love to see what you all create.
